Her Face

Her Face

A Poem by Augusta
"

To my Grandmother

"

When stars are falling,

And the sun does not shine,

When the moon is not breaking,

 The light

Through the darkest night.

All I remember is that day she had lost her fight.

When winter is here, and no snow that fall

When summer is near and the heat brings fear

When the rain is not falling and the rivers gone dry

All I remember is the tears in her eyes.

When the hospital ward so white

Suddenly turns black that night

And the man at her bed,

gave us the news:  She’s dead

All I remember is that beautiful face

My Grandmother had met her Grace

As time had passed and

People forgot

And all the memories brings regret

All I remember is that fall,

As I look at her picture on the wall

And years gone by, I stop for one moment,

I look in the mirror, next to her picture still on the wall,

The face that look back at me

Was identical to my Grandmother’s that fall
