Mirror of Errors

Mirror of Errors

A Poem by Fried Onion

Looking at the mirror
The mirror reflects you
Blank, nothingness becomes deeply clearer
Standing, and watching your eyes filled with glue
This knot, I wish to undo

Looking at the mirror
Distance apart, but sounding nearer
You, were expecting someone but who?
Whoever it may be, may they dance inside your mirror all blue

The mirror looks at me, like an old friend
Waiting for a stranger till the end
A shadow that misses you dearly
Watching you, from the corners of my eye clearly

Until I blink and see, it was someone else, cooked and caramelised
Crispy, and dried, the heat rocked back and forth, completely disguised
Was it you swaying in the breeze?

Was it you who was laughing?
Standing alone, I felt like my heart was hanging
Maybe, a distance was needed
Maybe, to get strong and not be a cry baby
The truth is, I still miss you?

Looking at the mirror
Was there an error?
An error, of our unspoken connection
Filled with the pains of an injection

Walking towards the mirror, the doors open.
Two figures, bounded by a rope
Facing each other, looking deeply
One smiles, the other frowns, merely
The one smiling says ‘Race you to the end’

Looking at the mirror
The path being clearer
The one frowning says ‘You are always the same’
In this game there remains a childlike figure running through the flame
In this game there remains a stoic figure with a gentle heart
A cycle of abstract art.

Would you want to be part of this masterpiece?
