Love's Stolen Moments

Love's Stolen Moments

A Poem by Butterflymom

Void in the pit of the stomach felt
Night descending like a heavy fog
Loneliness creeps in when not looking
The still, quietness becomes irritation
And each stoke of the clock is felt

Days filled with work, and the light
Rewarding duty and praise of others
Conversing with friends that are beyond worthy
Seeps into the sad, lonely heart
If only this feeling followed one into the night

Obligation and duty are truly of a higher plane
Yet peace, fulfillment and joy is lacking
Conflicting feelings leap into guilt
Sleeping alone is not what was expected
So once again night comes like the rain

Trying to find comfort, and love that is real
Seems only a dream that can't be complete
Secret desires and fantasizes fill
The void in the pit of the stomach felt
Relishing moments of touching souls on the steal

Really lovely piece here, you paint a great picture of the constant struggles faced when dealing with mundane routines, and feeling the dissatisfaction with it. I also like the sense of wanting to take a risk, but scared to see it through, ultimately leading to the internal conflict of the "guilt". I think it could be edited it up a bit at parts, but definitely a good write!

And each "Stoke" should be stroke of the clock.

Very COOL! I can definately feel the conflict and understand it from a therapists standpoint. Serving and waiting for the acknowledgement or the "rewards" from service. It is a lonley road sometimes. Tough for others (non therapist to understand). I think you did a beautiful job of capturing the opposing feelings in your work/life. The last sentence is awesome! I am still thinking about that one : )!
