Brook

Brook

A Poem by Butterflymom
"

My hero, diagnosed with ATRT...a rapid growing and usually fatal cancer in children under three. She has made it to three, two brain surgeries, a spinal surgery, two rounds of chemo, and radiation later........

"
Little baby girl
growing tumors is not right
Cancer is unfair

Your spirit peaceful
And heart brave, and undaunted
St. Jude's became home

Two years of all this
Your still going strong, growing
Thriving, and happy

You are a hero
With a spirit strong and old
Many lessons taught

Surgery, chemo
Radiation, ports, and pricks
It's not over yet.

Your blue eyes say much
When the adults are in fear
You are not afraid

Sometimes, children have an inner strength, which adults have lost. An innocence, which allows them to hope, when it all seems impossible to us. Wish more people shared the strength and courage that Brook had. Maybe there would be less pain and hate in the world. Thank you for sharing this very personal poem with us, Carroll.

I feel your pain. My sweet David lost his battle in 1977.

This is a sad and beautiful piece, full of hope.
