To My Mother

To My Mother

A Poem by Butterflymom
"

A haiku string written for a contest.............

"

You gave me life's breath

 and lessons for my journey,

That are always there

Your passion for life,

Sparkle that danced in blue eyes

Lovely auburn hair

You fought hard, loved hard

Spoke out against injustice

Your song sang loudly

You gave me a voice

And taught me to speak out,

Always take a stand !

Important in life

   "are  faith and education"

You taught me that well !

The hardest lesson

was  teaching me how to die,

with great dignity!

The imagery of your mother was beautiful and touching.I got a real sense of your relationship with you mother, sometimes its hard to that in writing . You let us know she gave so much , this was truly a wonderful tribute to your mother.

This great! I love the structure: the first two lines expressing the lesson rounded out by the final thought in the end. I think it's great that you wrote this for your mother, and your admiration and love are expressed well. Love it!

Great structure, a nice poem and good ode to your mother. This felt very high-level; that was probably your intent, but I'd love to see on the ground and you delve into specific memories / moments with your mother and how they impacted you. I guess what I'm saying is that the poem is good but left me wanting more. ;-)
