...just a corny little quickie that came to me on a whim

 

You've captured my soul

and taken my heart

I knew I loved you from the start

They laid you in my arms and I just knew

That my life changed at that moment because of you

It has never made sense to me that from the time you came to be

That I had to protect, nurture and comfort

Knowing that someday I would have to push you away

It's been tough at times watching you grow

And become the person that you are today

Now you have the same dilemia as me

Wanting to hold on to your children

But letting them be

Again a very nice poem, it has a bittersweet kind of feel the joy of watching them grow but also of the sorrow seeing them go. It was written with emotion and I think it resonates in each word, in each sentence.
