Wide Awake

Darkness upon my soul's horizon,

Rumbling thunder echoes deep.

Letting it all go with every flash,

Like an unborn child, I open my eyes.

 

Falling, crashing at a slow pace,

From the highest clouds above.

Trying to answer the riddles,

Subliminal messages within a vast universe.

 

I've opened the book of my heart

Letting in all that choose to understand.
Building up my mighty castle walls

To have them crumbling at my feet.

 

Only heaven knows that I tried

With every dark tunnel there is light

Waiting to greet me on the other side,

I am wide awake now....Finally I can see.

Written for the sake of having not written anything in awhile. May not make much sense to my readers but from what I have experienced lately, it speaks to me.

I might have the meaning behind this all wrong but as I read it spoke to me. I think that through life humans often "sleep" so they avoid unpleasant truths. When they finally wake up everything is either so clear and comforting or devastating, but regardless if I have the meaning all wrong this was quite a marvelous read.
