Together Again

 

 

 

Love, dreams, and darkness

Collide in a cosmic burst.

Longing to be in your arms again,

In world that I once called home.

 

A million dollars in coins,

Thrown down a wishing well.

Velveteen hopes and thoughts

Diminish with a small splash.

 

Minutes and hours go by,

As the ticking clock comforts

Lonely thoughts and broken memories

Swirling in the abyss of my own mind.

 

I patiently wait inside my burning heart

When reality's nightmare shall fade.

Someday I know we will meet again,

We are all just a dream in the end.

 

Author's Note

Somewhat inspired my Evanescence's Together Again. I'm not so sure I'm satisfied, but it was a attempt to jump start my brain.

"Swirling in the abyss of my own mind." Great line. "Abyss" is one of my favorite words and pairing it with "mind" just invokes such a powerful image. Great lines. Great poem.

The last two lines of the final stanza sounded like they were written from deep in your heart... "Someday I know we will meet again / We are all just a dream in the end." Very well said. What inspired you to write this? Well done!
