Message in a Bottle To Afghanistan

Just something I wrote for my brother last night.

Walking along the ocean's end

Gradually digging my toes in the sand,

With each step I take falling slowly

As I take another step on the shore.

 

Lost and broken hearted,

When you told me you were leaving.

My tears would have filled this vast ocean

And flooded the lands of the Earth in my despair.

 

A thousand miles apart, my thoughts flutter

Through my pen as I write you this letter.

A message in a bottle that would never reach

The dusty raging shores of Afghanistan.

 

Just beyond the dark blue horizons,

The only thing in my life I hold dear.

I will stay strong, but only for you

In hopes you return to me soon.

This is heartbreaking. My heart goes out to all those who's loved ones are fighting, or lost in afghanistan. I know people who have gone to fight as well. I hope you get to see him again soon, and maybe have him come back for good. This is a wonderful poem.

This is so beautiful, sad. I am so sorry for your sadness...stay strong and pray for him AND yourself. You need each other for love and strength. I am sorry our soldiers are still going overseas, but am thankful for their strength, bravery, and heroism. Send him some of your poems...write to him and for him...it will keep him close to you :)

My son-in-law has gone over three times .. Each time My Daughter held her breath ... and sent prayers to heaven .. she could not hold back the tears , but she never let Him see her tears .. She was able to talk to Him once or twice a week , through SKYPE .. a most wonderful invention ..lol .. .. Yes we miss our loved ones .. but what a joyful reunion it shall be, when they return home to us .. .

Beautiful verse about the feelings on this side of the ocean. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. It just doesn't do sh!t in the meantime. Keep your head up though, when that person returns, you'll miss them if your head is down.
