Another Christmas Without You

For my mother.

Glimmering silver and gold

Upon the snow covered trees

Christmas lights hung up high

On every house I pass by.

 

It's that time of year again,

The season of spreading joy

But frozen in time is my heart

To not have you here by my side.

 

Unable to feel my senses

Lost in the darkest of my memories

Colored hues of red and green fade

Into a cold mist of black and grey.

 

Icy tears glitter within the moonlight

Christmas just isn't the same

When a daughter has no mother

For smiles and gifts to exchange.

 

Silent whispers in the wind, glistening

Images of you on falling snow

My heart aches as it comes near

Another Christmas without you.
