The DesertA Poem by *~*Butterfly Kisses*~*Recently took a trip to Arizona and saw some of the desert. I fell in love with my surroundings. An endless empty wasteland Glimmering in the sunlight As golden specks fly and dance Across the seas of tan and gold.
Skulls and shells Lost creatures of the past Lay paralyzed, littering the ground Defeated by their own time.
In the mountainous horizon A storm of pure blackness Electric whips strike the atmosphere As it continues to brew in its rage.
Faint sounds gather in the winds Growing stronger by the minute Voices of coyotes singing their songs Awestruck by the lyrical masters of nature.
Wild horses embraced in their freedom To soar the empty horizons of this oasis. I get lost in my thoughts, jealous Of their will to be free and run wild.
A barren landscape, gone untouched Dryness and death, but so full life A diamond in the rough of everlasting beauty One of Mother Earth's best kept secrets.
