Aphrodite

Aphrodite

A Poem by *~*Butterfly Kisses*~*
"

A bit of an ode to the beautiful greek goddess of love and desire.

"

Born with golden locks

That shine in the midst of sunlight

Rising out of raging seas

To bestow a sense of peace and serenity.

A lead into temptation

With a blunt force of eternal love

Shooting from the airy skies

Like from cupid's bow and arrow.

Constricted in a loving embrace

Neverending battles rage

Within humanity's lust for war

Bathed in streams of bliss.

A stunning vixen,

Of beauty and desire in human form

Whispering winds of lustful words

Flowing right into your heart.

Hey, This I liked a lot. This said to me, Aphrodite, goddess of love. Manipulator of hearts. You seem to have drawn on the parallels of love and war, brilliantly. Aphrodite commanding the power of love. The last stanza really made me think of her as the ultimate beauty in human disguise, making people want her, fight over her and go crazy about her. You may not have intended for this perception but i think Aphrodite could easily be perceived as a wolf in disguise taking unintended sinister actions.

Surrender to temptation is something in and of itself, but how deliscious temptation is before a fall, and how strong the forces and beings that fuel that fire. Very nice, especially "winds of lustful words Flowing right into your heart. Well done.
