Inspired by all my wonderful friends on this Cafe and have so far met. I'm sure they are plenty more to meet. Never stop inspiring me. :)

Why must we be torn

In order to learn how to fly?

Drowning within our broken hearts

And dark memories past

Forever lurking within our minds.

Holding on to beautiful dreams

Floating within my oceans

As I get washed away from my shores

I will hold on tight and never let go.

Holding within my heart

The feelings of kindness and serenity

I will prosper for the rest of my life.

Even without wings, I will fly.

You asked a good question in the poem. Sometime we must learn pain before we know what pleasure is. I like the positive ending to the excellent poem.

When we go through times of sorrow and pain we can learn things from it. I am not saying all times of hurt and pain should be gone through but each moment we go through helps shape who we are. We can use it to make is more productive, caring and loving or we can use it for negative purposes. It would be wonderful if life wasn't complicated and hard. If all things flowed smoothly but we aren't that lucky. this is a great way to express those moment of when the past haunts us. It is a great way to vent and get out the negative emotions.
