Stairway To The Skies

A dream.

Tear stained pillows

From the oceans of my eyes

As I reminisce in the bittersweet

Memories of a broken past

Where my heart is filled with pain.

Eternally broken.

 

I drift off, crying myself to sleep

As I begin to hear the faint whispers

Angelic soft voices

Calling out for only me.

 

I am hesitant, but filled

With caution, as I gradually walk

Towards the gentle voices

To be met with a secret door

That I so abruptly open.

 

A golden path stands before me

Above, the clouds are dark and grey

But filled with a bright light

As the sun beams like a rainbow

Ribbons streaming down.

A stairway in the skies appears.

 

I climb, high above

Into the clouds where I finally am

At peace and pure serenity

As I stare below at the human world.

 

Lost loved ones, with wings

Comforting me and fill me with hope

When in my mortal body,

Beneath the clouds, I was so alone.

 

A golden gate, beauty

Around every corner

Every dream has come true

And stands before me from up here.

 

I never want to awaken

From this dream of serenity

In my stairway to the skies.

Jacobs ladder for has he slept a stairway to heaven appeared and upon it walked angels, this was so brought to mind by your poem as we all would wish to remain in this place amongst loved ones feeling safe and rested. Beautiful, keep em' coming
