Darkness...In The Eyes of a Child

Some people wanted to know....

I will let you see with my words,

I will let you burn and observe.

But where I go you can only follow.

So close your eyes, open your mind and see.

 

 

 

Jackals laughing in the distance,

Hearing the demons scream

Echoing in the blackness

A little girl living in her dreams.

 

An ordinary house,

Going through her ordinary life

Haunted memories past

Her childhood life, her future strife.

 

Barely understood nightmares

Drenched in pools of blood

But the devil has gone missing

Maybe it's time for you to run.

 

She lies still,

In an empty blackened room

Brother and sister just coming home

Emotions like a super sonic boom.

 

He stays within the shadows

A covered mask of sin

Mesmerized by what he's done

He let the devil inside him win.

 

Alcohol poisoned,

Scorned a woman who cared

A family now living in tragedy

And a child now living scared.

 

Taken away,

By the black and the blue

Chained forever to this memory

This story I tell, is true.

 

Today he still lives,

Just a few days more to die

To a daughter he doesn't exist

And I will never even say goodbye.

Anna, this poem is so full of depth and life experience that usually doesn't exist in someone of your age. The stanza's are crafted so well and the flow is marvelous. I love the theme of alcoholism and pushing away a daughter from their shame filled life. There are just too many good lines in here to point out just one. I rated this very high. Great work.

No matter how severe, the events of our life may take, never give up on the possibility of growing up to understand and redeem yourself. The confusion it creates is not normal and must be kept in perspective in relation to a life of balance. A poem that is clear in content with the promise of ensuring a stable and durable perception.
