Shed A Tear (For The Children)

Shed A Tear (For The Children)

A Poem by *~*Butterfly Kisses*~*
"

Dedicated to those that have lost their lives at Sandy Hook Elementary on 12/14/12

"

Shed a tear for the homeless,

With no roof placed over their sleepy heads.

Starving for love and affection,

Or just a meal before they go to bed.

Shed a tear for the suffering and innocent,

Searching for any reason unknown

Forced into a life of abuse and darkness

Without love, they are always alone.

Illness consumes health,

Without a chance to go out and play

Lying in a hospital bed without a treatment

Waiting for Death to have it's day.

Shed a tear for the children,

As ghostly images of what could have been

Wait for Santa Claus and gifts under the tree

Here no longer because life wore too thin.

I can't help but wonder why this is all so,

When humanity will open their eyes and see

The suffering in our world,

For the children there should not be.

As you sit beneath your Christmas tree,

With the joy dwelling in your eyes.

Please remember those that died by humanity's sins

Spending their Christmas in Heaven's skies.

Bless every child for they touch out hearts without ever knowing it...

Potent reminder hon...
We have got it all wrong, as humans, seldom do we collectively give it thought and we should...
We are all connected in the vast ocean of learning...about time we regarded ourselves as part of a bigger picture and not the be all and end all...
Moved me xox

Humans tend to get so lost in their own little world and petty problems they forget those who have real issues... one of the biggest crimes against humanity is a child born without a chance to live and dream.

While this is written with good intentions, I'm sure, and is kind in it's own way - and I'm sure my words will possibly (and likely) be unappreciated by most (but let me assure you, they're not a personal complaint against you; I don't know you, after all) - I think this resonates more like a preach than a good example. I know it's natural for most to feel sympathy in situations like this, so it will spark their compassion and sense of justice, but most of the time, that's all it is. "Shed a tear for the innocent children", you say, but I would find it more appropriate to say "be good and fair to everyone, at all times, regardless of the amount of sympathy they evoke in you". While we're at it, have sympathy for the guy who, for whatever reason, caused this whole thing and lost his own life in the process. Surely his life could have been better as well. Surely his family will need that sympathy from now on too.
Again, it's not a complaint, more like... an extension to what you've written, I suppose.

I shed a tear for this. :,) It was so magnificently written and showed such raw emotion. I wish that everyone in the world would read these words which have been written by you in this piece and have a greater understanding of humanity, which you have achieved.

Thank you for sharing this piece with me. :,)

A lot of reason to be sad. I do my best to stay positive. We must be kind and strong for the family. Give what we can to charity with time or money. A hard time for many people. Thank you for the poem that remind us to be kind to the needy and homeless. Thank you for the excellent poem.
