Insomnia

Insomnia

A Poem by The Burt of Punta Dilla
"

Just a funny poem about sleep of the lack there of...

"

The sound is thunderous in the night

Not the melody of heightened fright

Tis the thing that steals your right

To dream the dreams of slumbering delight

The dripping of water is so very plain

Its rhythm an etude to the dismay

To the student who wishes its lesson away

Back to sleep the torrent now seized

To appease the mind declaring its need

To wander now freely into the fray

A restful end to a tumultuous day

Awoken in plaguy and peeving vexation

To the noise of chirps so very brazen

Out the door to end the clamor I hasten

My body being tormented unfairly chastened

The birds chirp so very plain

Its rhythm an etude to the dismay

To the student who wishes its lesson away

Back to sleep the chirping now seized

To appease the mind declaring its need

To wander freely into the fray

Another attempt at sleep this tempestuous day

Sleep now robbed by the racing mind

Thoughts of tomorrow and the sins behind

Fear and worry my thoughts are shod

Disturbing my peace as I drift and nod

Fear and worry so very plain

Its rhythm an etude to the dismay

To the student who wishes its lesson away

I set all aside and begin to pray

Help me rest to my father I say

A third attempt to sleep this turbulent day

But now I must rise, for it is day
