A Tale of WoeA Poem by Burr the Story SorceressI was up at 6 this morning after four hours sleep because this woke my lazy bum up. Isn't that great?I'll tell you a tale As it was told to me By my mother without fail Like her mother told she.
So come sit by my fire And I'll start to spin This tale of a liar And one without sin.
Their meeting was chance As most meetings are On a night when dance Was the only true star.
The one without sin, Now, she was a doll And not ever again Has there been another at all.
She moved like a dream All beauty and grace But it never did seem To match the happiness in her face.
That liar, he saw What he desired more Than any broken law Or the chance to soar.
So, he used his skills And all his tricks To conquer her will And become her fix.
And that poor girl Fell without thought For the liar that could twirl Her 'round with his art.
He took everything She was willing to give From her wish to sing To her will to live.
Then one day he was gone After he had it all And she found just how long She had to fall.
The one without sin Was truly in hell And not ever again Has one as far fell.
She was lost and alone And knew not but strife Soon she fell with a moan And took her own life.
Now, children, I pray That you take heed Of her folly and stay Far from her deed.
Don't fall for the lies Of a charming face. Find the truth that hides But is worth the chase. © 2010 Burr the Story SorceressAuthor's Note
