Chapter 16

Chapter 16

A Chapter by Burr the Story Sorceress

The two words seem to send the Dragons into protective mode. All of the women are taken to a safe room. It is a large room, very comfortably furnished, with one door and a window that looks out to an inner courtyard. The ladies mutter worriedly and the Four are having a discussion amongst themselves.

“Do you know how many are on the offensive, Wina?” Aqura asks.

“Hmmmmm. Two hundred and fifty are on the offensive, a hundred and fifty on reserve.” Wina confirms.

“The Dragons could take the first round, but not the reserve,” Feu remarks. “They don't have that kind of stamina.”

“We have to help them!” Wina exclaims. “Markus and Mim are Light Users! We have to help!”

"We can't with out being exposed!” snaps Lyrena. “That can't happen. The time isn't right!”

“The attack has started,” one of the women says.

“I have to help,” I whisper softly. Alicea puts her arm around my shoulders. “It's okay, dear. The men will be just fine. Don't you worry.”

I shake me head slowly and pull away. I start pacing, picking my brain for a way for me to help with exposing myself.

“If we could send Elementals in somehow, they could help the Dragons,” Feu muses.

I jump and say loudly, “That's it!”

“What's it, dear?” Alicea asks. Confusion clouds her face.

I search the room and find what I am looking for. In one of the corners is a small kitchen area. I found a large bowl, a twenty four pack of bottled water and a sharp knife. I put the bowl in the middle of the room and fill it with water. I stand with my right hand over the bowl, the knife in my left hand.

“Wait! Mim don't!” Alicea starts toward me. I glance over my shoulder and meet her eyes. She stops moving. The other women behind her look just as worried, but none step forward to stop me. I turn back to the bowl and make four cuts on the palm of my hand.

I let the blood drip into the water as I say, “I summon here and now with blood that is my own the Solders of the Four. Fighters with Fire, Air, Earth, and Water to aid my new family. Come to me, I command it!”

The water bubbles and small creatures fly out. As they get a few inches from the bowl, they grow to their real size. There are thirteen each of the four different types of Elementals. The red ones that are clawed and wolf-furred are followers of Feu. The blue scaled mermaids are the Water Elementals. The green half-snake creatures are of Earth. The yellow winged harpies are Air scouts. Each set of three has a commander and two solders and one extra of each to stay and guard us. The Elementals kneel before me as they wait for orders.

“The area will be divided into four sections. One squad of each will go and help the Dragons in their area. Those not in a squad are to stay here.” I walk to the window and open it wide. “You know what you must do and how you must do it. Now, go!”

The squads fly out the window and separate into their designed groups. They head in four different to do what they are told.

I feel drained and slump into a chair near the window. The Water Elemental glides over and heals the wound on my hand. The Air harpy settles herself on the windowsill and the Fire wolf man stands guard on near the door. The Earth Elemental begins talking to the Unicorns, explaining what had just happened.

“Are you alright, deary?” Alicea takes my other hand in her own. I try to answer, but I find I can't move. I feel so tired.

“She will be fine,” the Water healer tells the older woman. “She is just very tired.”

“There are blankets and pillows in one of the closets. I'll make her a bed and she can rest.” Alicea goes to the other side of the room.

The Water Elemental meets the eyes I am struggling to keep open. Everyone else in the room isn't paying attention to us. “You did very well, Lady Balance, rest now and all will be well. We will go back to our own plain when the Dark Ones are gone and your mate is at your side once more.”

I nod and let my eyes close and everything around me fades.
