I Dreamt of Peace

I dreamt of peace and lasting days,

I dreamt of you, but in my haze,

I couldn’t recall the words you said,

Not a single book that we had read,

Nor a single sound of your faint laugh,

A blush, a smile on your behalf,

The tide that carried a distant swim,

Of distant words beneath the brim,

But I do recall the fading glance,

That day destroyed without a chance.
