Chapter 1A Chapter by Kat Loch*PREVIEW*Cullen felt around on the table for something that should have been directly in front of him. He sighed and pounded his stub of a cigarette on the little plate that once had a chocolate frosted donut on it, finally finding the plate after moments of searching. Seeing only the color white, he flung his hand out to find the mug of coffee hinted with pumpkin that stood somewhere near the plate. Feeling the handle, he lifted it up to his thin lips. The stained brim clanked loudly against the silver ring on the left side of his lower lip. The sound echoed in his ears, reminding him of the way his ears adjusted to the event of losing his eyesight. He sipped silently on the rest of his now slightly cold coffee and set it back down, which happened to be on the cigarette. Cullen shifted in his seat and yanked his wallet out of his back pocket. Dreading this part, he moved the three tabs with his first two fingers to the section that had the ten dollar bills inside. He slipped it out and flicked it on the table. Putting it back in his pocket, he stood up from the tiny little table, fixed his flannel, and stepped around the chair he had stayed in for at least an hour. Cullen opened the walking staff he kept hanging from his belt loop nearly all the time and began walking along the sidewalk, feeling the morning sun caress his skin. The nineteen-year-old kept silent and to himself as he made his way using the route he traveled each and every morning. He, like usual, wondered how his life would be if he hadn’t stayed home with Luca that one night. Luca, his pure German older brother, had… No, he couldn’t even remember now. Yet, he still wondered what he would be doing, what he would be seeing through his own eyes. © 2011 Kat LochAuthor's Note
