Let me in.A Poem by Kat LochLet me in. Let me sketch on your bare back
and let me write my favorite lyrics on your arms. Tell me what you’re afraid of and
why. Tell me about the darkest part of
your life and let me shine my light in. Let me fill up space in your
chest, like fog in the early autumn mornings. Let me take you"naked and vulnerable"into
my arms and trust that I won’t let go. Let me plant orchids in your
ribcage and let me water them daily with kisses; I promise I won’t let them die. Let me leave lipstick marks on
your knuckles and your neck. Tell me who you think God is. Tell me what you do when you’ve
hit rock bottom. Tell me what your favorite quote
means to you. Tell me your favorite memory. Sit with me under the orange streetlights
and tell me secrets that no one else knows. Let me under your skin and into
your bloodstream.
I promise I won’t leave you
curled in a corner, nursing dead flowers and dead thoughts. © 2013 Kat LochAuthor's Note
