FragileA Story by Kat Loch
My skin fell slowly from my cold body, like leaves in autumn..tumbling down to the colorful ground. A heavy aching filled my bones and clicked them into an uncomfortable position. I lay on the ground, gazing up at the stars, and felt my body ebb away slowly. My blood twisted and twined into smoke, drifting into the wind with a certain graceful dance; a ballerina adorned in red. I watched it dance further into the gray sky and create a striking contrast. My heart, my heavy, heavy heart, burned with a longing for life and my lungs heaved with inadequate air. I closed my drooping eyelids and could feel the darkness of sleep consume my body leisurely. The warmth of the sun tore through the clouds for what seemed like a split second, but I could feel it's golden rays kiss my wounds tenderly, like adoring lover in the morning. I soaked up with brutal beauty, stitching together my veins, and my eyes fluttered back open. A light rain softly danced from the clouds, sizzling my tissue. My soul slipped into a quiet, peaceful place in the corners of the Earth and I watched my body float away.
