An Ode to Sarah LynnA Poem by David BurkeOne last poem for an old and treasured friend :)
I don't know if you'll ever see this,
I just want you to know. That when I was young and out of smiles, you were my place to go. I never knew you outside the walls, of a small computer screen. But through our words and love for rhymes, we made a perfect team. You made me laugh, you made me cry, you filled a voided hole. I may not have known you in this world, but I dang sure knew your soul. Our time has passed, and all that's left, is a memory and a name. I pray my friend that you're doing well, and your soul still dance the same. I once compared your words to gifts, that still remains the truth. The way that they still resonate is all I need for proof. So thank you friend, for every laugh, for every rhyme; for every smile, for every line. For every message, for every day, for every dance across the page. The music has stopped, the words did too, but my heart still holds a piece of you. So thank you friend, for all you've done, keep writing rhymes and having fun. Dance with your pen, ride every line, and know your friend is not far behind. © 2024 David BurkeFeatured Review
