Love Poem

Love Poem

A Poem by David Burke
"

I want to write about you, but I don't want it to be the same old love poem.

I don't want it to be about comparing you to some fluorescent flower falling in the fall

breeze, or how you make my knees weak and I can't breathe when you're around.

I just want to tell you I love your smile.

I love how it makes me forget that there are other people in the room; and just for a

second life stops long enough for me to hear your voice in my heartbeat.

I love when I get nervous around you because it reminds me that I'm still hopelessly human.

I love the times where I'm laying in my bed, with thoughts racing through my head; like the

river of things I wish I would've said that never came out right.

I love how much I genuinely love being around you.

I think the best part is that you don't even have to say a damn word

and I still smile like an idiot.

How the hell do you do that?

What I'm trying to say is you

mean a lot to me, and nothing could ever change that.
