Why?A Poem by David Burkemy general thinkingWhy?, why on earth did he decide to do it? What gave him the courage to put himself through it? I'm talking about Jesus, our Lord and savior. What could've inspired his selfless behavior? How could he just willingly die for you and me? How could he condemn himself, so that we can go free? I understand that he died for us, to cleanse us of our sin, but didn't he know that afterwards we'd just do it again? Maybe he just knew something, that all of us still don't. That's why he could make the choices, that most of us still won't. He helped out the homeless, and nursed the sick right back to health; because unlike all the rest of us, he cared for more than just himself. He came to those who cried for help, while others backs were turned; and he helped them without asking, "what do I get in return?". Because he was teaching us a lesson, but most of us still missed it. He was sent not just to save us, but to show that God existed. But, why would he waste his time, when he knew we wouldn't listen? Sure some of us still worship God, but most of us aren't Christians. Why the heck would he ever die for sinners like you and me? He tried to teach us the ways of God, and we nailed him to a tree. Is there something that I'm missing?, because this all sounds so strange. Why did he think that once he died, we'd all the sudden change? Jesus knew that we needed help, so he followed God's plan. It's kind of like it was a play, and he's the leading man. Everyone's actions were based on him, so his part was very vital. But I don't need to tell you this, it's right there in your bible. Ok now I think I get it, but I just can't help but sigh, because when I see the world we live in it leaves me asking, "why?".
