It's OverA Poem by David Burkemy rise into a new lifeThis is it, it's over, no more pretending I couldn't be happier that my life was ending I was about to gain peace of mind, of this I was certain my show's almost over, it's time for me to close the curtain Then I started to wonder how much I'd be missed and with all this on my mind I raised the blade to my wrist but just as I'm ready to leave this cruel world behind something strange starts to happen, I think I'm changing my mind the voice in my head says don't quit, you can still get through this you know in your heart that you don't want to do this I said wait who is this?, the only voice I hear is mine he said you're talking to your soul kid, I've been here the whole time what do you mean my soul?, I thought that you were lost forever no I was born when you were born, we've always been together oh I know why you're here, don't tell me let me guess you're gonna tell me life is worth it, just don't worry bout the stress and that happiness is coming, I just haven't felt it yet no I'm just here to tell you something you don't seem to get you need to see the bigger picture man, life is just a test you see god is the teacher, and the whole world is his classroom but you treat him like the janitor, and the world is your bathroom so when you're telling him you're done because you feel diminished he's saying pick up your pencil cause your test isn't finished so what do you want me to do?, pretend that I'm ok? Keep going around and faking smiles every day? I'm saying appreciate your life, it's god's gift don't abuse it he loves you so much he sent his only son to prove it he tattooed your name in his heart, and your saying please remove it what good is his gift if you won't ever use it? Man why am I listening, you aren't real and that's a fact if I'm not real then tell me, why do you keep talking back? So what are you saying?, everything I do is wrong? No I'm saying wake up to what's really going on you got friends and family who are trying to support you and you treat them like a doctor who's trying to abort you you're a good person, so quit trying to be perfect and don't ever tell me that your life isn't worth it I know growing up you have already learned this but happiness is given to those who have earned it and if you never try, then you'll never deserve it then with a blink of an eye he disappeared and for the first time in years I broke into tears the knife I was holding had dropped to the floor I got up off my knees and walked out the door I looked in the mirror and saw I was smiling my pain was dissolving, and the happiness was piling I realized that god was with me, when I was screaming for help he just couldn't tell me I had to see it for myself not only did he hear me, but he was listening intently and he showed himself immensely through the people he sent me so if you're looking for happiness, consider this a free sample don't think it's possible?, I'll be your living example © 2013 David BurkeFeatured Review
