A Poem by David Burke

written for my brother in-law

Don't be scared child, come with me

I'll show you a way to set yourself free

It's not that hard, just relax

In a few minutes your mind comes back

You feel alone, you feel insane

As is everyone has cursed your name

It's hell on earth, and you feel the flame

You've tried your hardest, but lost the game

So what's the secret?, what do I do?

Just listen child, and I'll tell you

First I want you to calm your mind

Leave your worries, and the world behind

Think of your life go deep inside

Now tell yourself it's all just lies

Stop pretending, take off the disguise

See the truth without your eyes

No need to apologize

Just be calm, here's who you are

A person who's fallen from the stars

Born in peace, and has come so far

Abused in life, with no explanation

But don't forget you're god's creation

A product of his imagination

The center of his fascination

You're the good man I met before

When you opened yourself up for me to explore

So worry not, and be troubled no more

Brush yourself off, and get up off the floor

Your mind has been locked, now open the door

As you open your eyes, who knows how you feel

Just remember that person inside you is real

It was no fantasy, nor was it a dream

That man is the person you wanted to be

But you forgot it was possible, and didn't believe

So you lived your life blind, and deceived

And now the message that was lost has just been received
