Family

Family

A Poem by ashley.centers
"

This is old.

"
There are a lot of us
probably too many for our own good.

We all say that we're nothing alike,
the thing is, we're exactly alike.

We're loud and opinionated,
every single one of us.

We gamble and we drink.
That doesn't make us bad people, just human.

You'll never find a group of people
more stubborn or strong-headed.

Not so proud of where we came from,
we're proud of the lives we've made for ourselves.

Marriage doesn't always come first.
Usually, it's a chubby-cheeked baby or two.

The girls can beat the boys up any day of the week
because girls from the country are the toughest kind.

You better watch yourself though
because boys will be boys

And they're not afraid to punch
somebody's lights out for family.
