Child of Light

Child of Light

A Poem by Burak Batuhan Karakus

I draw strength from the sunlit leaves and the warmth of the herbs

My soul nourished by the whispering trees, caress of sunlight

Born I was into the radiant day, in a vivid, bright place

Where skin glows golden from the sun's sweet kiss

Laughter lights up faces, teeth beam white and pure

Scent of sweat, salt of effort, life's honest toil

Every sense electric, alive, lit up by the heat

Born I was of light, and in light I hope to die.
