Fluttering Wings

Fluttering Wings

A Poem by Burak Batuhan Karakus

This moment invites us to speak of your bold spirit,
As together we raise our voices for liberty amidst the masses.
She possessed the fearless charm of a ruler, an uncommon radiance in a woman.

I recall how you grasp your drink,
Dusk at the floral walkway
The true destitution begins thereafter
Across all continents
The motherland included.

I've been taught that a poem should "go somewhere", and this certainly fulfills that condition. It goes to some type of beginning, unclarified so the reader gets to determined what this start is all about, but the narrator is glad to have this partner for the journey, whatever we want to imagine it is.

at first there is a celebration of the monarch, but then we begin to focus on the masses, those who would do anything to touch her, but have nothing for themselves.... the unspoken poor, who barely get by from day to day....thank you for sharing....
Warmly, B.
