The Shell

The Shell

A Poem by Chandler Oswin

The shell you hide in
Breaking apart
Old, trusted armor
Piercing your heart

Why do you cling on?
It only causes pain
Your refusal to be open
Drives everyone insane

The shell you hide in
Might only pierce you,
Yet we are all suffering:
Gone is the friend we knew.
