When morning rises.

When morning rises.

A Poem by Bullet Soul

Midnight eyes

Silence your lies.

Tip toe to the kitchen

He waits for you outside

Dressed in your blue night robe

But soon he'll throw it to the ground

Midnight eyes,

can't hear your lies.

You drop your flashlight down the stairs

It lands on the floor with a thud

Mayhem beneath your feet

As you get ready to make the run

Midnight eyes,

awake to the lies

The front door comes unlocked

Barefoot on the patio

His car door slams, he steps inside

And pulls you in his arms

Whispers words of romance

And tells you of your beauty

His lips meet yours for just a moment

But you'll lay with him for hours

You long to love beneath the stars

His breath upon your bare chest

Your ear against his own

To hear his heartbeat, thudding in and out

Midnight eyes,

hear their sighs

Morning comes abruptly

As she wakes up once again

Her head across her pillow

Her husband out of bed

Smells coffee brewing in the kitchen

Pulls her slippers on her feet

Joins her husband's side

Still wishing for her lover

Longing for the one, who she loved beneath the stars

Desire for forbidden, a romance of the Gods

Trapped inside a marriage

That she's better off without

Mornings rise,

with tears in midnight eyes.
