The World I Remember.A Poem by Bullet SoulMy memories of childhood.I remember the simple things in life. Even when the sun rises, and my tears dry… I remember the simple things, that brought a smile to my face. I remember the sunflowers, on the side of the house Popsicles out on the porch, and jumps right through the sprinkler. Water fights and bike rides, ice cream scoops and dress up games. I remember when you smiled, and told me that you loved me I remember the days, before love lost its meaning And became a common word, drawn across each of our lips. I’ll never forget the trips to Florida, finding shark teeth on the beach Losing a pair of sunglasses, as I chased you through the sand. Tidal waves and fishing, bring memories that never end. The days we spent together, the trips to Disney World. Visiting with Mickey Mouse, winning rides in airport limos Parades for spring Birthdays, and flights straight back to Michigan. Water parks and sleigh rides, as we hiked right through that snow Trips up to the cottage, driving golf carts through the woods Boat rides and summer parties, surrounded by the ones we love A trip down to Lake Michigan, a hotel that we hated A week away at camp, spent homesick yet excited. Here’s to the family moments, and the love that never ends. The future will bring chaos, arguments and quests To find the meaning of a life, we sometimes wish could end Never knowing the that answers still lay in our hands. Journeys through eternity, to find the love we thought we lost But that will always burn in the souls, of the ones forever near The ones with whom we share our memories, until the very end Singing along to Shania, in the back of your old car Tubing down the river, with true laughter in our hearts Cherishing the bonds we share, that we know will never break. My childhood was not so bad, despite my trying future The past is who I am, and though these flames may burn my soul I’ll go down like a fighter, remembering my home. © 2010 Bullet SoulReviews
