Nyx's Moon

Nyx's Moon

A Poem by Bullet Soul

Last night I travelled, right to the moon

Just like Amelia, I’m lost in space

I flew right next to midnight’s stars

And still you’re all, that’s on my mind

I swear I saw heaven, amongst those clouds

Airplane windows, shield me from my dreams

But I’m still alive, you’re still away

And still you’re all, that’s on my mind

Last night I learned, the cure for love

Tequila and whiskey, romance’s drug

Unconscious sorrow, as I cry for you

And still you’re all, that’s on my mind

Apollo greeted me, come morning’s light

I lack Athena’s, cherished wisdom

For I start my day, without you by my side

And still you’re all, that’s on my mind

Just like Medusa, I’m left alone

I hide my face, without you near

You stole my beauty, when you walked away

And still you’re all, that’s on my mind

Now just like Amelia, I’ll die here alone

Lost in the unknown, perpetual dark

Here come the gates, of midnight’s hell

And still you’re all, that’s on my mind

Nyx sheds no light, when day turns to night

It’s dark here in Hell, without your stars

You gave me these bruises, and you had your scars

I hope you cut deeper, now that you’re gone

One day Janus might carry a beginning

One that I’ll start, without you here

But my time in space, changed not a thing

For still you’re all, that’s on my mind

Hi. I loved this poem. Although the use of Greek Gods in poetry is becoming trite and blase ad
nauseam these days, your piece captures the individual traits of each one and adds to the closing and repeated line of each verse, rather than detracting from it. It was just enough, not too over the top.

"And still you're all, that's on my mind"

The decision to repeat the closing line lets the reader really feel the depth of longing and heartbreak experienced and being experienced. Let's hope Janus rules the day for you. Any man who willingly leaves a woman in unrequited love is usually not worthy of that love.

Thank you for sharing this.
