The Addiction

The Addiction

A Poem by Bullet Soul

They never tell you what it’s like

With each breath, you are inhuman

Whether it’s the blade, or the drug

You can make it, farther still

They tell you to stop, that one day you’ll break

But this is who you are, what keeps you whole

Inhale the drug, and hold on tight

This is the burden, of your life

You’ve been lost, so deep in pain

But now you know, you will be fine

And when your skin, is cut raw

You carry on, you hope for more

Some turn to drugs, some turn to pain

They turn to hope, too scared to live

Through your veins, you pump the poison

Sweet relief, the best addiction

One you love might find you dead

But still with the needle, you break your skin

You feel that high, replace the low

See the beauty, surround your world

When it’s over, your heart beats fast

You long for more, with every breath

But when reach, to grab that needle

Your poison is gone, there’s no more left

You search each drawer, you search your soul

No money left, to purchase more

And with an ache, inside your heart

Your world slowly, falls apart

Until next morning, addiction begins

A stolen card, will feed your hunger

And with the drug, pumped to your heart

Never again, will you part

Author's Note

Bullet Soul
I didn't go through and edit this or anything, so there may be some mistakes. I tried to portray the emotion of someone in this situation, so hopefully I did a good job of that.
