I swear I did not remember 'Purple Rain' was a Prince song until after I titled this!
How I could forget prince, I have no idea.
There is a love, that cannot disguise
The look drained from your gleaming eyes
Shall not forget, the rain that night
When you dared to give up your fight
The purple rain, the city street
The taste of love, blind and sweet
The dreams that filled, those attic stairs
Swallowed our hopes, stole our cares
There was no life, I'd rather live
No heart nor soul, I'd rather give
Bound to your smile
A presence worth the while
The purple rain, her painful technique
Across her arms, words she could not speak
I've loved that purple rain
The love that had no reign
The memories, come flooding back
Of life you surely lack
The dreams so vivid
Of anger so livid
I danced in the rain, and held her close
Prayed for her love, just one more dose
The ending drew tears from my eyes
But she would not mind, my pain filled cries
"Live on," she pleads, with her broken voice
She had to go, had no choice
Still every night, I dream of her, the love she left behind
Her life, her dreams, had been so real, had been so kind
Every day, that purple rain
Reminds me of what, I could not gain
Beauty haunts my every dream
Drowned in loves, bitter stream
The purple rain, that floods my soul
That keeps our love, beating whole
Invades my mind, brings me regret
Too late to lose, too late to fret
And when I grow weary, deep in the night
I recall her love, and her fight
The depths of her soul, that purple rain
Love was lost, but hope, I did gain
