A poem about keeping someone in your heart, forever.
Years ago beneath the glitter of stars
You told her you loved her, that you’d go far
Wiped the blue tears from haunted eyes
Told her you’d never say goodbye
This morning she’s dressed, black as the sky
As she stands by your grave, tears in each eye
Flowers in hand, and hurt in her heart
Knowing that on this day, she must part
With starry skies, with midnight kisses
With ocean waves, and loves lost wishes
With laughs, with smiles, and with his name
Knowing tomorrow, won’t be the same
She rest those flowers, on that grave
Reminds herself, she must be brave
Turns to face, that endless crowd
Starts to speak, with a voice so proud
“He was a man, full of wishes
Of love and peace, and midnight kisses
We’ll always remember, his final days
The hope he gave, in every way
Last night beneath, the glitter of stars
He told me he loved me, that he won’t be far
Wiped blue tears, from haunted eyes
Told me this time, was goodbye
I’ll see you again, so hold on to your wishes
Never forget, those midnight kisses
I’ll always remember, our final days
Will always remember, in every way”
She lowers the flowers, right to the ground
She smiles wide, to all around
She will be brave
As she leaves that grave
At home that night, the tears start to fall
But outside her window, the wind seems to call
A whisper in the foggy night
Though not a soul, is in sight
“I’ll see you again, so hold on to your wishes
Never forget, those midnight kisses
I’ll always remember, our final days
Will always remember, in every way.”
He knew he was going to die. That..confused me a little.
But otherwise...what a simply beautiful poem! The repetition is gorgeous, and you set the scene very well.
Well done!
