What Is Mercy?
A Poem by Bullet Soul
A poem about forgiveness.
What is mercy?
Surely, you're heart remains stone
And I remain, standing here alone
What is mercy, for the meek?
What is mercy, for the weak?
What is mercy, to break a fall?
Or does mercy keep you standing tall?
For surely, your heart remains stone
And I remain, standing here alone
Who gave you the right, to forgive
A man like me, who does not deserve to live?
Why grant me mercy, if I'm better dead?
Why not save yourself regret and dread?
I cannot recover, I cannot become better
Why grant your mercy, to me - a simple debtor?
I do not deserve your praise
Or the pity in your gaze
I deserve death, Sir, nothing more
Please let this be the final score
But, "Sinner" he said, "stand up tall
Do not let them see you fall."
For all men are granted the choice to forgive
To let the meek, even the weak, forever live
Get up, off of that ground
For mercy, Sir, you have found
Surely a heart beats, even one of stone
And surely, sir, you never stand alone
