Forty-two years have past, since a spark turned into an ember igniting into a flame. A flame that has grown strong many times, and has equally shimmered and drew dim in the midst of turbulent winds. Yet, it has never weakened to become less than a warm glow. A glow that becomes rekindled with the slightest hint of a promise carried by a loving breeze, as any ember will do in the presence of air, bursting into flame.
Forty-two years… So very few have ever carried so much as a breeze in the name of love. Scorching winds have blown in, in frequency, over-shadowing the brilliance of this single flame. But what good is an open flame, after all, without a container to nurture and rekindle it? With all certainty, it will inevitably fade away to become nothing more than ashes. Ashes that will only remind one for a short while there once existed a warm and vibrant soul. Even then the ashes will eventually become as one with the dust of this earth, leaving no trace of it’s existence.
Forty-two years… Could there be forty-two more years, yet to come? Years by which to rebuild what has faded away in the shadows of failure? Perhaps, just maybe, there is still enough fuel buried within the ashes to reignite a flame worn down by harsh winds? A flame by which to chase away the many ghosts that lurk within, deep within a yearning spirit. Maybe there is an ember of a spark left to reignite a brilliant flame, once more? Perhaps, indeed…
"A flame by which to chase away the many ghosts that lurk within, deep within a yearning spirit. "
A nice flow of thoughts on time and possibilities. I like the many strong statements leading the reader to a very good question at the end of the poem. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

Very well expressed. Life and love are so complex by nature. Then we have to go and add our own insecurities and doubts into it . Your spark is there my friend. There is no way to extinguish it. The talent lies deep. I look forward to those wonderful offerings.
