Water ThreeA Chapter by Lazarus GreymanThe rain soon began to fall harder causing the boat rocked back and forth, the storm had come on quickly without warning. Gleen not knowing much about ships stayed out of the way While the crew ran around trying to keep it steady. All looked hopeless with the large tidal waves crashed down on them knocking everyone around, but they continued on. Gleen managed to hold on through it all until the lightning hit the ship and the explosion throw him from the boat. When he came to he was at the waters edge and there was something on top of him, covering him from the sun. Rolling it off he found it was a mermaid, from the way her arms were around him she must have saved him and pulled him ashore before collapsing. He also realized he had to be on the furthest island, since the mer-people only populated one know area. Picking her up he walked back into the water, waiting for her to come around as he stood there with her. She was a little shock at first, but when she saw him she remembered what had happen before. Pushing off of him she swam around a little seeming to regain her balance, then returned and sat beside him. “Are you the one who saved me?” Gleen asked her after a moment. “Yes.” “What is your name?” “Rain.” “I’m Gleen. Why did you take me to this island, there are closer ones.” “To get you away from the dark water.” “A shadow? We just defeated the last shadow a week ago, why is this one so soon?” “You fight shadows?” “Yes. Casa, the princess, and I. I am the first barer of the triangle.” “Everyone says Casa was the first.” “I had my triangle while Casa and the princess were still children, but I was put in an endless sleep for several years to wait for the other triangles to appear. Speak of the devil.” Gleen said as he saw a boat coming their way. “Here they are right now.” “Gleen, I’m going to pound you for dragging me out here.” Casa told him when they got close enough. “It gets worse, the shadow is underwater.” “I’m going to die.” Casa whined. “Get a hold of yourself.” His alter ego told him. “You’re acting like a baby.” “Maybe I should let you go in the water.” Casa told it as Shayla hid a giggle as did Gleen, due to the fact it looked like Casa was arguing with himself. “We may have a few problems.” Gleen said getting back to the point. “My clothes are waterproof, but I doubt you can swim in your clothes, most of all we can’t breath underwater.” “I can help with that, I’ll be right back.” Rain said diving back underwater. A short time later she returned with two bodysuits made of scales, for Casa and Shayla, as well as three blue pearls that would allow them to breath underwater. After they changed Gleen hesitantly removed his neckpiece, taking three long strips from the back to tie their hair back. With that they were all ready and waited now time in jumping into the water, with the exception of Casa. The alter ego then took the privileges of coming out long enough to throw Casa far out into the water. Once they were underwater the trip was rather quite, since not even the mer-people could talk down here. Casa looked upset since he could no longer make any comments about anything that happen from this point on. Gleen smiled to himself then noticed that Casa actually couldn’t swim, but luckily Soultaker helped him with that as well. Shayla was doing fairly well as was he since he had learned how to swim as a child during his training as a guardian. Turning his attention back to the trip, it was a trip that many land walkers would have been honored to take as the mer-people were friendly, but felt their city was sacred to them. From what he had heard the city of the mer-people was said to be the most beautiful still existing and the water had many fascinating creatures. Rain swam next to him the entire time as she showed them the ways through her underwater world. He wondered why she decided to go with them knowing the danger when they could just find their way by sensing the shadow. It was different having a guide to show them the quickest way and stopping them from taking unnecessary risks. When they got closer to the city the water began to get darker and give off dark energy as if the shadows were filling the water. There was no tower he realized as they went on, the entire ocean was the tower to this one and it was spreading. When they reached the city they could barely see at all, until the shadow energy pulled itself together forming a crab. “I am Water Crab, I’ve been sent here by my sovereign the Shadow King.” It said pushing the water away from them. “Are you the three warriors that oppose him?” “We are.” Gleen told it. “I give you one chance to surrender.” “Never!” Casa yelled. “Why do the shadows keep attacking?” Shayla asked it. “You have provoked my sovereign by destroying the first shadow who came here only to deliver a message.” “It was a messenger?” Gleen asked shocked. “What was the message?” “A message for help, but it is too late now as the condition has become unchangeable. I am now ordered to destroy you.” The Water Crab said filling their area with water again and jumped back. Water Crab was a lot more intelligent then the other shadows, Gleen only hoped Casa wouldn’t do anything foolish. Yet true to his pattern of attacking before thinking, he pull a bomb which was waterproof, but it didn’t go very far after he throw it. This only made Soultaker complain that he was trying to kill the both of them, and Casa couldn’t argue back. Gleen found that his chain acted like a harpoon allowing him to shot it through the water, but it wasn’t fast enough to reach the shadow before it dodged out of the way. Even charged up Gleen couldn’t catch the shadow as it swam around, out maneuvering them all. It looked like the shadow was going to win, then all of a sudden the water was pulled away by a beam that came from the Sphere of Light. Charging up Gleen carried Rain into the water before returning to the fight, only to find the shadow was now have trouble without the water. The shape it was given was meant only for the water, now that there was none around it there was nothing it could do. “That’s better.” Casa said once he could speak again. “The shadow seems to be at a disadvantage now.” Gleen agreed. “No, I can talk again.” Casa said causing the others to groan. “I can still fight.” Water Crab said barely able to stand. “Without the water around you, you can not fight.” Gleen said placing his hand upon it and lowered it to the ground. “I now release you from your servitude and let you join the rest of your kind in space. Leave the Shadow King to us.” “My sovereign is on his way, if you are serious about fighting him I give you my power. Soul Blast!” The departing shadow said shooting a energy blast into Gleen. “Goodbye honorable warrior, I hope we can meet again, but under different circumstances.” “Goodbye Water Crab, may you find happiness out there.” Gleen said as the shadow faded. Without warning a pillar of strange light came down at them, looking up they saw a large storm cloud was beginning to form. Lightning was shooting in every direction as it slowly became concentrated in one area, around them. Gleen had never sensed such dark energy in his life, the other shadows couldn’t compare for this energy was a true nightmare. He quickly wondered if they could actually handle this, one look at Casa didn’t help his confidence any. What worried him more was that there was the plea of help from this thing which meant it had intelligence. All he sensed at first was nothingness, but as he looked deeper he found nine entities within it. One was different and much weaker then the others, which seemed to be controlled the stronger ones. Could that one have been the one that wanted help, to fight the ones that were controlling it. Perhaps Water Crab was a last chance to seek help, but was taken over by the others before it could finish the message. “That’s it, I’m going to take it out in one cut.” Casa said as he began to charge up. “Don’t!” Gleen told him. “If you fail, we’re all dead.” “What should we do then?” “Let me.” Gleen said charging energy into his hand. “Lets see what this can do Water Crab. Soul Blast!” The blast hit the shadow cloud head on and as if it had lost the ability to float came crashing down to the ground. This only made Casa sword-happy as he could now reach the shadow with the sword energy wave. Gleen continued with the Soul Blasts, but their attacks only seemed to hurt it just barely as it didn’t even fight back. At this rate they would never beat this thing, they would have exhausted their power while it would only be just beginning. “This isn’t working.” Gleen said jumping back. “We’re only managing to holdit back.” “Let me fight.” Soultaker told Casa. “No. Gather together, I going to use the Soul Blast through the Triangle of Light.” Gleen said as they all crossed arms. “Triangles of Power, Fate, and Destiny hear my plea. Grant me all your power! Light Force Blast!” The three triangle began to glow as they sent forth a blast of pure white light straight into the shadow. From deep within it came a piercing screech that sent shivers down all their spines as they stood there. Then as if it could fly again the dark cloud didn’t disperse as the other shadows did on defeat, but just floated away. In turn to the shock of all three of them the triangles lifted from their hands and formed the Triangle of Light. “You do not have to worry.” It told them. “Once the shadow is gone it can never return to the same place again.” “What is to happen now?” Gleen asked it. “Casa and Shayla’s journey has come to an end, but for you Gleen, this is only the beginning. To continue your own journey we give you the power to travel between the worlds.” It said as each triangle shot a beam into a separate gem of the Talisman of Eternity. With that the triangles of Fate and Destiny flow off into the distance while the Triangle of Power returned to Gleen. In turn the Master Sword and Sphere of Light floated into the air and blew in all directions as they were turned to dust. Strangely the harp and ocarina stayed though they had lost the mystic powers they had once held. The guitar stayed as well though it to seemed to have lost some of the power along with the rest of the set. “I think I’ll be joining Water Crab.” Soultaker said as Soultaker Casa stepped from Casa, freeing him from the dark curse, and floated away. “Gleen, if you ever need help fighting the darkness come find me.” “Shall we go?” Gleen asked them. “Where to?” Casa asked confused. “New Capital, the shadows are gone and I did say I would show up for the wedding.” Gleen said then noticed the water was slowly returning to where it had come from. “Casa, aren’t you afraid of the water?” Casa took one look around then ran like a chicken with it’s head cut off for the island they had come from. Gleen picked up Shayla and followed right behind before the waters could return to their rightful place. Once the waters were finally back to normal they got a ship back to New Capital to prepare the wedding. They were underway right after the victory celebration they found waiting for them at the castle.

Gleen stood just outside the doors dressed in his full uniform waiting for his time to enter the great hall. As the music played the door opened and Willow, there under a spell the sages conjured, lead Casa up to the alter. As the music changed Gleen took his turn and lead Shayla down the hall before taking his place beside Casa. The music changed one final time as the priests arrived and the marriage ceremony began. When the evening came the new king and queen sat before the large banquet the cooks had prepared for them. Everyone was cheerfully drinking down, except Gleen who refrained from such activities as a Triangle Guardian. Shayla had only drank a little so she would be sober when it came the time to say goodbye to Gleen. Casa who had never been good at saying goodbye to anyone, drank as much as possible hoping it would help. When the time came he simple got up and walked to them, both were at a lose of words to express what they left. Having expected this he just drew them both into his arms, for a long embrace as this was all he could do to express what he felt inside. As he stepped back the talisman shot three beams at the floor creating a hole of blue light. With a final wave to all of them he jumped through and was gone, traveling to where he was needed next. © 2014 Lazarus Greyman |
