HoneyStung

HoneyStung

A Poem by Bubo
"

For Pete. A follow up to The Love Divide.

"

It was just a little prick

and you let yourself in

and I

honeystung

mistook it for love

of the soul kind

blind

but I took what you gave

flesh, blame and pain.

In your consumption

you broke my bones

evoked long dead ghosts

and made me your home.

I shed bruised skin

and donned another one

but could never fathom why

the flowers still died.

And the years crept by

and the love didn't quite

meet your beautiful eyes.

They came and went

the girls with the curls in

the middle of their forehead.

And the love divide

became wide as the 1000th

sun chased the moon

across the sky, while

crevices in my skin wept

but my eyes remained dry

Folded in your paper origami

I moved my hips for you

yet blood red womb

remained silent,

hot rum flooded my veins

and I sang lullabies anyway

inside the house that

fell from the dark sky.

Smoke and mirrors, Chinese whispers

I'm not oblivious to

the chant of those

who fold me in warm arms,

binding masks, hidden battle scars,

while the storybook

is narrated by only one

But I, your paper origami, is still

breathing with life.

A highly emotive poem. Quite sad, to say the least, but highly poetic! Very expressive and full of inventive imagery!

I notice you wrote this piece @ 2016 and gather from the latest review the situation has yet to be concluded. Your painful write seems almost a premonition and sadly foreboding, which unfortunately has unfolded. Still, within the stanzas of your brave poem is a message of self survival and strength - a positive oasis in a desert of bruised emotions. I applaud you for your brave share and tenacity to carry on writing/fighting - bless you my friend :-)

Damn!!! This is a heartwrencher!!! What a great title and that first stanza is amazing and the honeystung analogy is sooooo good. Relationships should not consume...at least not in this way and its sad when they do. A great look at the damage the pursuit of love can bring. Great writing girl, sorry you year has not been good as you mentioned below, here is to better horizons!

Thank you dear one x
The raw bloody honesty of this post is undeniably based on truth, not a fantasy conjured up to elicit sympathy. How can thes words come from someone who isn't fully aware of the pain?

'Folded in your paper origami ~ I moved my hips for you ~ yet blood red womb ~ remained silent, ~ hot rum flooded my veins ~ and I sang lullabies anyway ~ inside the house that ~ fell from the dark sky.'

Your final references and sense of hope are so very vital and for sure,' breathing with life.. '
My lovely, near lost friend.. your writing touches thought itself. Emma

My sweet friend - it's been a painful year. How apt I wrote this before he cheated on me.

Very sad read. When love doesn't reach you nes eyes and children are wanted but never created.

When I read this I thought of you writing it (possibly a pen on paper sculpturing your origami prose?) This is very clever and I'm very surprised more people have not left a review expressing their thoughts. The poem cries in darkness yet also inspires as it stands with strength and power refusing to lie down defeated.

This reminded me of a quote by the late Marilyn Monroe who said, "I feel like a paper dragon in a Chinese New Years parade sometimes; all colorful and pretty on the outside and empty on the inside." Very sad read of false love offered in return for the real deal. Your talent shines bright as always.
