The wait till Christmas

The wait till Christmas

A Poem by O Bubbly_snowflake *

Their eyes were fixed

On the wonders ahead

The possibilities were endless,

In their little head

An array of assorted figures

Masked in red and green

A few lines of gold

To complete the scene

Not even a blink to move their gaze

Reflecting the streaks of sparkly gold

Had Santa got their lists?

Their answers will soon be untold.

A quietly charming little festive piece. Neatly executed and capturing the outright innocence reflected in the eyes of the children. The rhyme is very pleasing.
But what I really like is the final line. The key word here is "untold" - unexpected in the scheme of things, and suggests so much about childhood... and beyond.
