Burdened echoesA Poem by BHAGYASHREEThis poem talks about the guilt anger revolving around self doubt and inferiority complex.
Do they notice the cracks beneath my fragile glow?
Or the way my reflection whispers "no." Can I match society’s high standards of grace? Or am I the last one in this race? Do they see what I hide beneath my skin, Or is the outside all that matters to them? Fury bubbles up when they speak my name, As if beauty is a prize in this twisted game. Each compliment feels like a sharp disguise, I wear it like armor while the truth slowly dies. Here I am trying to adjust myself to look fair, But all I know is I’m gasping for air. Guilt lingers like smoke, heavy in the air, A constant reminder of the burdens I bear. I ache for the girl who lost her own voice, Drowning in shadows, with no way to rejoice. © 2024 BHAGYASHREEAuthor's Note
