Parenthood

Parenthood

A Poem by BTazz
"

A few things about being a parent.

"
IT IS WHAT IT IS...

A SITUATION THAT GETS NEGLECTED.

WHAT IT TAKES TO RAISE A KID

WHEN THE SEX GOES ON UNPROTECTED.

NO ONE IS SAFE FROM THE REGRET,

BUT MANY MISTAKES BECOME REFLECTED.

WHEN EMBARKING ON THIS QUEST FOR

AN ART FORM THAT HAS NEVER BEEN PERFECTED.

SO WHO HAS RAISED THE PERFECT KID?

OR BETTER, WHO IS THE BETTER PARENT?

IS YOUR STYLE OF PARENTHOOD REFLECTED

IN YOUR CHILD? IS IT APPARENT?

ARE YOU THE ONE, WAS SHELTERED FROM

BODY FUNCTIONS BREAKING AND REPAIRING?

PROTECT YOUR CHILD IN SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH

TILL DEATH DO YOU PART, LIKE THE TWO OF YOU ARE MARRIED.

WHO HAD THE PARENTS, MOM AND DAD?

TOO MANY SEEM TO BE OFF CENTER

WHO ALWAY HAD A.C IN SUMMER?

WHO ALWAYS HAD HEAT IN THE WINTER?

WHO WAS RAISED TO KNOW IT ALL?

INFORMED ABOUT THIS WORLD THEY ENTERED

WHO GOT PUNISHED, AND WHO GOT COMFORT,

FOR SOMETHING AS LITTLE AS A SPLINTER.

WHO WAS RAISED WITH SILVER WEAR?

YOU EVER SEEN A WOODEN SPOON,

OR PLASTIC PACKAGES FROM RESTURAUNTS

TO EAT YOUR LUNCH AT NOON...

HOW MANY CYCLES OF PARENT, CHILD

TO PARENT, CHILD MUST WE UNDO

BEFORE THE PROPHECY OF GREATER

GENERATIONS IS REALLY TRUE?

AND HOW DOES ONE CHILD GET AHEAD

AND LEAVE THE OTHER ONE OR ONES BEHIND?

HOW DO YOU KNOW YOUR CHILD SO WELL

IF YOU DONT KNOW WHATS ON ITS MIND?

WHY DOES IT TAKE YEARS OF A LIE

TO FINALLY SEE THE TRUTH UNWIND?

AND IF A CHILD CANT SPREAD ITS LIGHT

HOW DO YOU EXPECT SOMEONE TO SHINE?

BUT HEY, IT IS WHAT IT IS

CANT TELL YOU HOW TO RAISE YOUR KIDS.

JUST A FEW THINGS TO THINK ABOUT

BEFORE YOU FROGET WHAT A CONDOM IS.

REMEMBER, WHATS FREE FOR THAT ONE NIGHT

COULD COST YOU NINE MONTHS, AND 18 YEARS.

AND ONCE YOU HAVE A CHILD TO RAISE

ITS NO MORE ROOM FOR CHILDISH FEARS.
