Two girls turn out to be queer

Society automatically assumes they’re dating

Why do we always have to make it clear

It is getting frustrating 

That everyone thinks I am dating my peer

What am imaginative poem! A gay male friend of mine once told me that there are some people who just assume all gay people in a town know each other. Like, “oh you’re gay? You must know so-and-so.”

Good piece of writing. If you don’t mind me telling you, your computer may have changed a word. Instead of “their” it should be “they’re.” We help each other out on this site when we notice something. Cheers!

Thank you for the correction. My computer did change it by accident. And yeah I’ve noticed that too. But it’s definitely hard when I can’t talk to my friend cuz her parents thinks we’re dating and I’m not out to my parents to mention that I’m dating someone else but I’m also to the point where I want to just put myself to talk about my girlfriend to clear up the confusion

I do have several gay friends and according to them, coming out to their parents was difficult but some were surprised at how supportive their parents were. A couple of them said it took a bit of time, but once they saw how happy they were, they were happy for them. I guess it’s all different for every family, but I hope writing helps you. It helps me with my grief. Take care.
