Insecure

I wrote this when I had struggled with confidence

Laughing and mumbling

Judgmental eyes stare and glare

Never leaving me

Always feeling judged

Constantly trying to change

Please just leave me be

Eyes always on you

Always judging your movements

Never being free

Change your attitude

Change your personality

You’ll never fit in

Keep trying to change

Judging eyes will follow you

You’re not good enough

this is such a heartbreaking poem. And all to familiar in many of our lives. It is relatable and speaks from a place of pain. We live in a society that is enamored with physical beauty and an unrealistic view of body perfection. Unattainable goals that only leaves deeper scars within the psyche of those unable to live up to these expectations. Your words are powerful, Bryn, and an indictment to our society as a whole. Always speak truth in words for they are like mirrors reflecting to the world that reads them of their cruelty to others they feel are less appealing because they are not beautiful in their eyes. When in truth it is they who are ugly, they just can't see it. Thank you for sharing your poem.
