Hammer's Blow

Hammer's Blow

A Poem by Bryan A. Tann

Surging and burning
Guilty, painful joy.
Colors are brighter, louder, joyously present
Songs are fuller, louder
My voice so much clearer
The cost is a heart breaking to pieces
And I know its my hammer's furious swing and crushing song.
Its thunderous touch
That made it from one piece to infinite
As slaves did long before me
Chains needed to be cut for freedom to be achieved
Joyous sweet freedom you come at a price
Better now than later
Or pray tell it all could be thrice.
