A Viking’s Final MissionA Poem by Bryan SmithsonWhat I must accomplish if I am to be happy before I die, otherwise I will return to Valhalla, in a bittersweet manner…
My body failing
My life fleeting I’m still after What I’m seeking Love, that feeling I want to find someone Who will love me for me Before I die, which could be Today or tomorrow, no joke Something new for my heart On this last journey I’ll choose to now embark Like a Viking not afraid My will lasts, I stand Exploring new lands Searching for my Freyja My last lady love The one I’ll die with My last one before I enter Valhalla proud This is my last mission My last tout On the eternal quest To find my true love The one that I behest The one fallen from above My angel my vixen My golden sun The one shining On bloodstained seas To find my heart’s release As the ax falls down My body starts to drown I fall off my longboat Losing my last hope Don’t make it to the shore My last wish I’ll ignore If I cross that bifrost Without my mate It’ll be a grim fate Joining with Vali and Thor While I’m alone in Asgard A god with nothing No crown no children Dead to the world King of nothing If I find her My lady fair Then embrace the gods Mighty Odin and Skadi There will be mead For each and every soul Loki, Hel, and Fenrir Will continue to tremble Fleeing my grand victory As they cower and see The lady beneath me For all eyes to see As I smile in rapture And live… Happily ever after © 2023 Bryan Smithson |
