Stormy Thoughts
A barrage of thunder came from the sky. Black clouds forming, and rolling by. lighting ablaze, the thunder growled in. I gazed from the window, pane against chin. The wind grew stronger, trees took flight. we were in store, for a rough bumpy night. The rain came down, hard and fast. Asking myself . How long will this last? A thought came to me, as i watched the show. What did the Indians do, long ago ? Nestled in Tepee , flap down tight. What did they do , on rough bumpy nights ? Did they sing to the heavens, to muffle the noise? Did they cuddle in close , to protect their girls and boys ? BOOM !!! went the thunder, brought me right back. Lighting bolts down, with a flash and a crack! As the rain sheeted the window, I was trapped in the glare, Hypnotized by water, stuck in a stare. Wagon train, out on the trail. Storms rolled in, dispensing large hail. Horses running, in a life saving flight. Pots and pans crashing, were sounds in the night. HAW! HAW! with a slap of the reins. Hat was a fortress , from the hail stone pains. BOOM!!! BOOM!!! i arose from my slumber. Gratefully in a house, made of sturdy lumber. © 2011 Don ShawReviews
